Introducing the Pyzel Mini GhostSquash Tail Surfboard - a short, chunky, fun version of one of Pyzel Surfboards’ most popular models, the Ghost. Developed with Koa Smith, the Mini Ghost is designed to bring added volume, paddle power, and stability into smaller-day performance surfing without losing the feel of the original design.

The wider bump squash tail helps the board feel loose and lively in smaller, weaker waves, carrying speed easily while still maintaining enough control when the surf cleans up. Designed to be ridden 3–4 inches shorter and around the same volume as your normal shortboard, it delivers a fresh feel while working across a wide range of conditions and types of waves.

The Mini Ghost came to be by shrinking Koa’s 5’9 Ghost down to a 5’5 and widening it up a touch to give it more float, while flattening out the deck and making the rails thicker and more boxy. A modern beak nose was added to keep even more foam under the chest-area and up into the nose, packing significant volume into a shorter board. Pyzel made a few small changes to the rocker and paired it with the round tail to make the board very fun in smaller, weaker waves. Overall, it’s best described as a sort of throwback 80’s looking board with all the added performance features of a modern design.

Surfboard Features
Outline – Short, chunky outline widened up a touch for added float
Rocker – Slightly adjusted Ghost rocker for quicker speed and drive
Rails – Boxy, fuller rails for forgiveness and stability
Concave – Single concave through the entire bottom with a double concave set inside
Tail – The wider quash tail helps the board feel loose and lively in smaller weaker waves
Fins – 5 Fin set up ( 3 fin can be custom ordered)
Construction / Glassing – Stock under 6'2": 4+4oz deck / 4oz bottom | Over 6'2": 6+4oz deck / 4oz bottom. Stock is PU (Epoxy can be custom ordered)

Surfboard Performance
The Mini Ghost is made for high performance ripping, but is also great for less skilled surfers due to the added volume and forgiving ride. The added foam through the deck, rails, and chest area increases paddle power and stability, while the shorter length keeps the board responsive. Designed to be ridden 3–4 inches shorter and around the same volume as your normal shortboard, it delivers a fresh feel while working across a wide range of conditions and types of waves.

Recommended Surf Conditions
Best suited to smaller, weaker waves where added volume and paddle power help maintain speed and flow, while still handling clean surf when conditions improve. It fits everyday beach breaks and mixed conditions where a shorter, higher-volume board keeps things moving. In New Zealand, this lines up with softer Mount Maunganui days or smaller Piha peaks where the waves lack push but still offer room to move.
